New White Papers and Other Information
The Enterprise Unified Process (EUP) extends the RUP to address the real-world needs of many organizations. One extension is the addition of the Enterprise Management (EM) discipline, formerly called the Infrastructure Management discipline, which addresses the activities surrounding multi-system environments. The EM discipline consists of eight sub-disciplines. John Nalbone is the primary author of this information, and you can read about them at: http://www.enterpriseunifiedprocess.info/essays/enterpriseManagement.html
Scott Ambler's two new RUP white papers, “Data and the RUP” (www.agiledata.org/essays/rup.html) and “Reuse Opportunities Throughout the RUP Lifecycle” (www.flashline.com/fcm/SDPCSeries.jsp) explore issues critical to RUP projects.
The following agile modeling white papers have been posted:
- “Agile Model Driven Design (AMDD)” www.agilemodeling.com/essays/amdd.htm
- “Software Modeling on Whiteboards” www.agilemodeling.com/essays/whiteboardModeling.htm
The Full-Lifecycle Object-Oriented Testing (FLOOT) methodology is a collection of testing techniques to verify and validate object-oriented software. Read about it at: https://ronin-intl.com/publications/floot.html
Scott Ambler's July 2003 SD Magazine column, “Running Interference” (www.sdmagazine.com/documents/s=8269/sdm0307h/sdm0703h.html), is now online. You will need to register (free) at the site if you are not already a member there.
Scott also recently completed an interesting interview with Borland, and it can be viewed at: http://community.borland.com/article/0,1410,30055,00.html
Finally, Scott was recently a keynote speaker at The ServerSide, info can be found at (you may have to scroll down to “day 3” as I do not see Scott in the beer garden [he hides well I guess!]: http://www.theserverside.com/resources/article.jsp?l=SymposiumCoverage#ambler.
Video interviews with Scott will be posted at the ServerSide site within the next few weeks. I’ll keep you informed!

Travel Logs
Well, Scott Ambler is one lucky guy – traveling the world as usual. Someone has to do it, and it is a lifestyle he loves! In addition to traveling, Scott is an avid amateur photographer (you should see his house – pictures from every continent!). One of the recent spots he visited was Utah; pictures can be seen at: http://www.ambysoft.com/pics/utah/pics.html
We also have one of our consultants on-site in Eastern Africa. If you any suggestions for places to visit – please let me know!
